Blessing of the Pets
Sunday, September 28 at 1 PM

Fetch your dogs, cats, hamsters, gerbils,
rabbits, ferrets, fish, birds, horses, and
other pets of every religion! All are invited
to attend Ingomar Church’s Blessing of the
Pets service on Sunday, September 28 at
1 p.m. near the Outdoor Chapel.

During this service, we will praise God for
the gift of pets, and Pastors Streets and Cox will bless each animal. Special music will be provided by Christian music station
101.5 WORD-FM’s Stephanie Fraschetti.

Following the service, there will be booths,
exhibits, and demonstrations by the
Franklin Park K-9 Unit, an animal rescue
and adoption group, a local veterinarian
for an “Ask the Vet” forum, and more.

Contests for “Happiest Pet,” “Pet/Owner
Look-a-Likes” and “Pet Talent Shows” will
also be featured.

Cost is free but registration is required.

The first 100 registrants will receive a
free commemorative t-shirt. Sign up on line or mail to

Pet Blessing/Bonny Hall, 102 Cleveland Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15202

If you love animals and would like to
help with this event or if you need more
information, contact Bonny Hall at
412-327-5177 or bdiver1@verizon.net.
In the meantime, invite your friends and
neighbors to bring their pets, too. It’ll be a
great opportunity for them to meet, mingle, and sniff our Ingomar members.

This event is also being promoted at Animal World USA's site with a link to our registration. They are coordinating "PA week for the animals" - encouraging events that week throughout the state.

This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures.

The bond between person and pet is like no other relationship, because the communication between fellow creatures is at its most basic. Eye-to-eye, a man and his dog, or a woman and her cat, are two creatures of love.

No wonder people enjoy the opportunity to take their animal companions to church for a special blessing. Church is the place where the bond of creation is celebrated.
