In an effort to protect youth, children, and vulnerable adults from risks of abuse, the Ingomar Church has adopted a Safe Sanctuaries policy. Below are highlights of the provisions of the policy. Copies of the complete policy which lists steps to be taken and persons to be contacted in the event of suspected abuse are posted in the Ministry Center and Education Center. Copies are also available in the church office. Please read the policy so that you understand procedures for keeping our children, youth, and vulnerable adults safe from abuse and know the steps to follow if abuse is suspected.
· At the time of employment, approved adults who
deal with children and youth will be required to fill out an Employment Application.
They will be checked for a history of child abuse through Acts 33/34. Reference
checks will be made.
· All volunteers who work with children and youth must fill out a Volunteer
Application. They will be similarly screened in accordance with Acts 33/34.
· All child care volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
· At least two approved staff members or volunteers will be present
at all times.
· Parents will be given advance notice regarding organized child and
youth activities.
· Parents will be asked for their permission, either verbal or written,
for children to travel with a staff member or volunteer.
· One-on-one counseling and small group activities will be conducted
in areas where outside visual access is possible; doors must have windows,
be half-doors, or be left partially open.
· Children will not be left unsupervised at any time.
· When traveling off the church property, cars and vans will be driven
together, when possible.
· The Safe Sanctuaries policy prescribes steps to be taken in the event
